lost and tossed
Lost and Tossed is a special edition of the Surfrider Online celebrating the 35th Reunion of the Kailua High School Class of 1971

Each one of us was brought here for a reason

"Who brought us here," you ask? It was the Island itself. For awhile it seemed perfect. But sometime in 1971 you found yourself running through the halls of your high school screaming at the top of your lungs, "I just found out there's no such thing as the real world; just a lie I've got to rise above." You fell to the ground, unconscious.

You awoke as one of the survivors of the Kailua High School Class of '71. You were forced to find inner strength you never knew you had just to survive. You discovered that the Island holds many secrets, including the intense howls of drunken tourists stalking through the concrete jungle, a surfing polar bear,

Polar Bear

marooned and possibly crazy pig hunters chasing a mystical boar through the Koolaus, mysterious groups of grads from other Island schools known only as "The Others," a ship called The Falls of Clyde, and underground bunkers that you thought had something to do with WWII. Everything you knew is wrong - you are lost.

What does the Island want?

Over the years the Island has slowly been revealing it's secrets. Danger and mystery loom behind every corner. Everyone you thought could be trusted might turn against you at any time for unexpected reasons. Even so, we are forced to work together to survive knowing that something terrible may be hunting us down, one by one. The thing about human nature, however, is that we all have a dark side and when we need something badly enough there is almost no limit to what we will do, or who we will become, in order to get it. So who cares what the Island wants. But one thing is certain: if you believe you are invincible, get too far out of line, or learn too much too soon the Island will intervene - you will get tossed. You've probably been tossed a few times already just for being alive, so do not fear news that the Island wants you back this summer to play a role in this continuing saga. You may be lost - you may get tossed - but you are brain-dead if you can deny the Island's intoxicating siren's-call of adventure and danger, "Come to Kailua - I will reveal everything!"

When and Where?

The Island only reveals truths as the time becomes right.....
