The Admin Password
The Admin Password is the password for your main web account. It is the password you are given when you first sign-up. For instance if your main login name for the web account is mylogin, your admin password is the password for the mylogin account. The Admin password cannot be changed in the zipmail account manager window.

Adding New Mailboxes
Be sure when adding email addresses that you only specify the name, and not the full address. For example, if you have the domain name mydomain.com and you want to add a new email account test, you would click on Add Users link, type in the Admin password, then in the Username field, you would type in test, and not test@mydomain.com.

Adding Aliases
Be sure when adding email aliases that you only specify the name, and not the full address. For example, if you have the domain name mydomain.com and you want to add a an alias test so that test@mydomain.com goes to friend@hotmail.com, you would click on Add an Alias link, type in the Admin password, then in the Alias field, you would type in test, and not test@mydomain.com. You then type in friend@hotmail.com in the destination field.

Also, note that if the destination is also a local mailbox, you want to make sure the destination is just the username too. For instance if you wanted test@mydomain.com to go into your mailbox me@mydomain.com you would click on the Add an Alias link, type in the Admin password, then put test in the Alias field and me in the destination field.

Deleting a Mailbox or Alias
To remove a mailbox or alias just click on the appropriate link, type in your Admin password and put the name in the Username or Alias field. If the mailbox you want to delete has a dot '.' in it, such as john.doe, please replace the dot with a colon, use john:doe instead.

The Catch All Alias *
There is a special alias, just the * symbol. The * alias is a catch all. If any email comes in to your domain that does not match an existing username or alias, it will go to the * alias. If you wanted all the email for your domain to go to into your mailbox test, you would select the Add an Alias link, then type in * in the Alias field and test in the Destination field (again, you would not use test@mydomain.com). Now any email that comes into your domain that does not match one of the existing mailboxes or aliases will go to into the test mailbox.

To have all the non-matching email go to an external email address like friend@hotmail.com, put * in the Alias field and the email address in the Destination field.

If you want all mail that does not match an alias or mailbox to bounce, just remove the * alias.
